My Photography Journey
I have been taking photos for over 15 years. More and more, I am only interested in taking images of places and people I deeply care about. Once you have a dog, you care.
Otis, my fox red labrador, is my best mate. He is everything to me. He is my walking buddy, my counsellor, sometimes my pillow, and often the source of very unpleasant smells. I have a portfolio of Otis photos here if interested.
I have taken photos of landscapes and people. You can see a portfolio of my landscapes here. I still take photos of landscapes, but dogs are so much better than people! The highlight of my week is walking with my friends and their dogs on a Saturday morning. Sharing quality images of their dogs is such as joy and privilege.
My Dog Photography
When photographing your dog, I want to capture their personality in their landscape. The home package reflects this. Offering to take photos in your home can be a high-risk strategy. I have no control over the light, space, backgrounds, and calmness of the setting. But, it is important to capture the character of your dog and the memories that will resonate with your family.
I believe this is what sets me apart. It is pretty safe for you to come to my studio or a location I know well. This (as much as possible) guarantees that your shots look just like the others on the website. Coming to you, especially your home, can be a challenge. However, the pay-off is photos that show your dog in the surroundings that mean the most to you. I believe this helps create images that you can treasure.
My Photography Style
As a dog photographer, I aim to create artistic yet realistic images that capture the unique personality of your dog in their environment – whether that is your home or local park.
I do not aim for fine art – which I feel reflects the photographer more than the dog. I enjoy looking at fine art dog photography, I admire lots of it. But I rarely get a sense of who the dog is. I aim to talk to you and spend time with your dog. When you look at the images we create, I want you to feel your dog and your connection.
These images can be hung at home, given as gifts, or used on social media. But a wow factor is not enough. You need to treasure the images, and you will only do that if the personality of your dog is shining through.
